October Nature Hike

Jack and Margaret Moran,
Amy and Steve Umlor and Sandy Ford along with 4 of
their furry friends enjoyed a brisk, beautiful
morning hike along the Ridge above the Jordan River
at Pinney Bridge. The trail is part of the North
Country Trail system and climbs to the rustic
campground where a group of young men were breaking
camp after hiking in from Deadman's hill yesterday
and preparing to follow the south loop back this
morning. Color was about at peak but the leaves
were not as well developed as usual as the many of
the trees had to go through a second "spring" after
the tent caterpillars defoliated them earlier this
summer. Jack was able to show Steve and Sandy a geocache he had hidden along this trail and describe
this hobby. There is still time to get a view of
the color, probably for another week or two so take
and hour or two and get out there. You wont' regret
